How wonderful to think about the immense amount of organisms I still have to see in the world; this thought makes me happy every day. Nature photography has encouraged me to look into an endlessly fascinating detailed world and feel part of it. I swear I once saw a moth try to sniff me.

Exploring where I live in West Yorkshire and wherever my travels take me, I discover amazing animal, fungi and plant life that intrigues and often amazes me. Using a camera allows me not only to record my findings but to use light, composition and colour to reveal other-worldly creatures in their unique habitats.

I like to photograph anything and everything and doing so has led to a great appreciation and respect for the natural world. This has driven me to look for ways to assist in the protection and recovery of our precious wildlife and wild places. Every spring I volunteer on our local Todmorden Toad Patrol where groups of volunteers aid with toad and newt migration and survey populations. I am also actively involved in the conservation of National Trusts Hardcastle Crags, 400 acres of mixed woodland in West Yorkshire and a home to the northern hairy wood ant, Formica lugubris an internationally near threatened species. I am also a proud council member of Halifax Scientific Society - Natural History Group (www.hxscisoc.org.uk) which aims to conserve, record and educate, bringing people and nature together.

In the end I think one of my main reasons for doing Nature and wildlife photography is to inspire others to enjoy and connect with the wonderful natural world around us as much as I do.
